- Graduated from UT Austin and married James Alley (SACHS Class of 1965) in 1970; celebrated our 46th anniversary in January, no kids, but three godchildren. Jim's been retired from teaching since 2001.
- Taught public school from 1970 until 1985; middle school and high school math - Mr. Van Orden's influence; teaching was a wonderful chapter in my life.
- God moved me out of teaching in June of 1985, to USAA, a financial services company in San Antonio that serves the military community. Started in IT and did large system in-house development, but moved to the business side as a Program Manager in 1999 and managed people, projects, and programs until 2006, when I moved to reporting on programs and projects for the Executive Council and Board of Directors until my retirement in 2008. (Mrs. Fail's influence throughout.)
- Lived outside San Antonio on 4 acres in Bulverde from 1977 to 2008 and had lots of critters through the years...goats, mules, geese, chickens, dogs, and cats.
- Bought property in Round Mountain, near Marble Falls, in 2005 and built our retirement home there; more critters...chickens, dogs, goats, and a guard donkey named Dorothy.
- Active in our church, Coker United Methodist, on the Board of Trustees and Columbarium Committee in addition to sharing teaching duties for our Sunday School class.
- Serving on the Board of Directors for Roy Maas' Youth Alternatives (RMYA) in San Antonio, a non-profit agency which provides emergency and long-term care for children in crisis, helping nearly 50,000 youth since its inception in 1976.
- Serving on the Board of MeadowLand Charter School in Boerne, which targets at risk and special education students, including the RMYA residential kids living at MeadowLand.
- Serving as Financial Advisor for Alpha Phi, a sorority at St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
- Serving on the Board of Directors of the USAA Retiree organization.
- Serving on the Child Welfare Board of Blanco County.
- Serving on the Board of the Friends of the Marble Falls Library.
- Blessed to have the means to enjoy travel to lots of places: Germany, England, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, the Caribbean, and all over the U.S.; skiing and snowmobiling in Montana, Wyoming, and Utah are winter favorites. Jim also worked one season in Ketchikan, Alaska, as a Tour Guide and Coach Driver for Princess Cruise Lines after he retired; I was still working, but I had three Alaska vacations that summer. Just returned from a great cruise on the Columbia and Snake Rivers through Oregon, Washington, and into Idaho.
- Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Reunion!
